Lomer Zingen a Yiddish Lid: Let's Sing a Yiddish Song

By Goldberg, Itche (Ed.)
Kinderbuch Publishers, 1985, Spiral bound, 218 pp., $10.00

This collection of over 130 songs in Yiddish, English, and Yiddish translation is divided into eight classifications: In the Shule, Let us Sing, Holidays, Brothers, Ghetto, Once There Was, Israel and Love Songs.

The editor of this booklet indicates that the collection was most difficult because there were so many songs he had to not select. He continues " There is something wonderful about songs: they don't really get old. They go on and on….Here, then, is a small gateway to the inner life of your people. We do hope you will learn to know them just a little better through these songs….if you become more aware of the life of the people in Israel today, or the suffering and heroism of Jews in the ghetto, or the way they celebrated a holiday which we still celebrate today - if you learn all this, or at least some if it, if you make these songs your own, this book will have served its purpose."
